Franken Guss GmbH – Top Employer in Kitzingen

Finding Solutions Through Dialogue

For over 90 years, we have been the specialist for solutions in iron and aluminum – always at our location in Kitzingen. Although a large portion of our customers come from the automotive, aerospace, home appliance, and mechanical engineering industries, we are not limited to any specific sector.

We are convinced that the best solution is reached through dialogue: by uniting individual perspectives into a shared vision. And we seek this dialogue – with our customers, suppliers, and employees.

“From apprentice to management – this is not an isolated case here. Through flat hierarchies and close collaboration, we offer our employees excellent opportunities for advancement. Of course, this always depends on the individual, their personal goals, and strengths. With our talent management, we support our colleagues in finding an individual perspective for them.”

The “Franken Guss Expedition”

A company – including Franken Guss – is like an expedition. The goal can only be reached if it travels as a strong unit and everyone fully contributes their strengths, knowledge, and abilities. Expeditions are not calculable down to the last detail, but rather involve a certain risk because new challenges must be overcome again and again. To master these and reach the destination safely, intensive dialogue between those involved is also necessary here. On the way there, we rely on our values that have always defined us. Externally, where know-how, service, versatility, and flexibility determine our interaction with customers and business partners. And internally, where respect, trust, integrity, and responsibility shape our interactions with each other. However you look at it: In the end, it’s all about dialogue.

“The iron foundry is quite exciting – almost an ‘adventure playground’ for me. Even though we place great emphasis on safety, of course, there’s no need to worry. But when I saw the cupola furnace and the stream of iron flowing from it for the first time, I did get goosebumps.”

Value Creation is Secondary to Appreciation

As we constantly deal with different industries and requirements, in other words, with new things, openness is not just a phrase for us, but reality. This is certainly ensured by the fact that we are an owner-managed family business with flat hierarchies, short decision-making paths, and a family atmosphere. Here, not only does everyone know each other, but everyone also has an open ear for others. Our managing partner, Josef Ramthun, exemplifies this daily. He seeks proximity to the employees and his door is always open to us.

At the same time, he follows the motto: “Value creation is secondary to appreciation.” This means that employees always come first for us. Of course, as a company, we also need to be economical. But this special attitude is clearly noticeable here.
It has become a tradition that every year before Christmas, all employees receive a Christmas tree with mulled wine and bratwurst. In the end, our customers also benefit from this unique appreciation. Because only when each individual feels comfortable and valued can optimal results be achieved.

“Many people from my family and circle of friends have always worked here, which makes it very familial. Additionally, our managing partner seeks proximity to the employees; his door is always open to us. We are a medium-sized company with short decision-making paths, and unlike in a large corporation, I feel that my opinion as an individual counts here.”

Investment in the Future

On the ‘Expedition Franken Guss’, personnel work plays a decisive role. Because for us it’s clear: Only through flexibility and constant learning and continuous development can we keep pace with changes and sometimes be a step ahead of them. That’s why we invest in our employees and thus in our future.

We want to strengthen the personal responsibility of our employees and prepare them for future challenges. We maintain a welcoming culture of appreciation, and our personnel development is focused on defining our technological core competencies, leadership skills, and market and customer orientation. We shape social partnerships, promote diversity, and ensure equal opportunities. Of course, we must also advance digitalization. And finally, we place value on our own training. Flexible flextime models, further education measures, promotion of talents, and redesigned break rooms are just as natural for us as family-friendly offers, health days, and fitness studio programs.

So it’s not uncommon for many of our employees who started as apprentices at the ‘workbench’ to now take on central leadership roles. It’s important to us to offer each employee an individual perspective.

‘Cohesion is very important to us. Especially in the melting plant, you have to work hand in hand – the movements have to be perfect. Of course, it’s easier when you get along well and sometimes do things together after work.’
