Cycling in Mainfranken

The sun is shining, temperatures are rising, and numerous cycling routes in Mainfranken invite you to explore. We’ve put together a few tours for you.

Longer tours (stages possible)

1) The Main Cycle Path

The nearly 600 km long Main Cycle Path can be divided into 13 stages, which lead through Würzburg, Gemünden, Schweinfurt, Kitzingen, and Volkach, among others. Along the way, picturesque towns offer plenty of sights to see. Franconian cuisine is also not neglected.

2) The Wern Cycle Path

The 77 km long Wern Cycle Path starts in Rottershausen and leads to where the Wern flows into the Main near Wernfeld. There are hardly any inclines to overcome along the way, making the cycle path ideal for leisure cyclists and families. Bike-friendly hosts along the route invite you to linger.

3) Rhön Cycle Path

The approximately 180 km long Rhön Cycle Path leads through the Rhön Biosphere Reserve and follows the Rhön Mountains from Bad Salzungen to Hammelburg. The panoramic views over the plains of the Lange Rhön nature reserve and the unique landscapes can be particularly enjoyed during this route.

Shorter tours

1) Steinbachtal Loop

The approximately 20 km long Steinbachtal Loop leads via Eisingen to Waldbüttelbrunn and through the forest back to Würzburg. The starting and ending point is the Talavera parking lot, where you can stop at the nearby Dornheim beer garden after successfully completing the route.

2) Abt-Degen-Weintal Cycle Path North Loop

The approximately 27 km long cycle path leads through the picturesque landscape of the Haßberge. Starting from the wine-growing town of Zeil am Main, the route leads towards Haßfurt. From Haßfurt, the route then runs via Unfinden and back via Königsberg and through the idyllic Krummbachtal. Historic old towns, varied nature, and gentle vineyard landscapes characterize the North Loop and invite you to explore.

3) Reichthaltour

Covering around 37 km, this tour leads through a quiet agricultural landscape with a high proportion of forest, making it particularly suitable for warm weather. Despite some inclines, this route is well-suited for families.
