Successful information event on international skilled workers
Numerous company representatives from the region took the opportunity yesterday afternoon to find out more about the recruitment, recognition, and promotion of international skilled workers at the Schweinfurt District Office. The joint event “International Skilled Workers – What Companies Should Know” was organized by the Economic Development Department of the District of Schweinfurt, the Economic Development Department of the City of Schweinfurt, and Region Mainfranken GmbH.
The event focused on practical information and specific support offers for companies wishing to counter the shortage of skilled workers with international solutions.
The event was opened by District Administrator Florian Töpper and Lord Mayor Sebastian Remelé, who emphasized the high relevance of international skilled workers for the region’s economic future. For Lord Mayor Remelé, the event was also one of his last official public appearances in an active capacity – a special moment for regional cooperation.
As the event progressed, participants gained in-depth insights into key thematic areas:
- Recognition of foreign professional qualifications
Petar Miščević from the Coordination and Advisory Center for Professional Recognition (KuBB) explained procedures and support options. - Recruiting international skilled workers
Klaus Speckner from the Central Office for the Immigration of Skilled Workers (ZSEF) provided compact knowledge on immigration processes and framework conditions. - Funding opportunities for companies
Sandro Höhn and Janina Zieglmeier from the Schweinfurt Employment Agency provided information on funding programs and practical assistance.
This was followed by an intensive exchange between companies, speakers, and organizers. The lively discussion clearly showed the high level of interest in practical solutions for securing skilled labor. In particular, the open dialogue and networking afterwards were perceived by participants as a great added value.
Strong regional signal for securing skilled labor
With this joint event format, the Schweinfurt District Office, the City of Schweinfurt, and Region Mainfranken GmbH underlined their close cooperation in securing skilled labor and their commitment to sustainable economic structures in Mainfranken.
The positive feedback from participants made it clear that international skilled workers remain a central future topic for companies in the region and that joint information services of this kind make an important contribution.
