St. Josef Hospital Schweinfurt as an Employer

St. Josef Hospital is a modern, certified hospital providing basic care. Nearly 800 employees treat and care for more than 33,000 patients annually from Schweinfurt and the surrounding area – approximately 20,000 of them on an outpatient basis.

The Catholic and only denominational hospital in the Schweinfurt district is operated by the Congregation of the Sisters of the Redeemer, Würzburg. Even though the activities of the nuns in the hospital have decreased and only a few of them are still active there – Christian values continue to define the hospital’s mission statement and daily clinical practice.

Range of Services

St. Josef combines modern, future-oriented medicine with traditional Christian values.

With a total of six specialized departments (Surgery, Internal Medicine, Palliative Care, Acute Geriatrics, Anesthesiology, Intensive Care), St. Josef Hospital offers comprehensive medical, nursing, and therapeutic care.

The range of services is complemented by the affiliated departments of Otolaryngology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as seven outpatient specialist practices. These are directly connected to the hospital.

Special Task: Refugee Care

Team spirit, joy in dealing with people, appreciation, necessary attention at the right moment, individual support and development. These qualities, as well as Christian values, not only characterize the interaction with patients but also shape the daily life of the clinical staff and their everyday interactions.

The hospital’s philosophy is also to open up new career opportunities as an employer. For the younger generation, but also for all employees across all professional groups working in the hospital.

Continuous training and development are possible at all levels. In the medical field alone, the clinic has nine further education authorizations.

Diverse Career Opportunities

Employee events are regularly organized to strengthen team spirit and create a pleasant working atmosphere. These include joint excursions, team-building activities, and celebrations for special occasions. Practical advantages such as on-site parking facilitate the daily work routine by providing convenient parking options. Additionally, the required work clothing is provided by the employer, saving employees additional costs and effort.

Own Vocational School for Nursing

Since 1952, St. Josef Hospital has had a state-recognized nursing school. Currently, nursing students are being trained there according to the model of “Generalist Nursing Education with Professional Focus”.

As part of the training, the three professional profiles of health care and nursing, pediatric nursing, and geriatric nursing are combined in terms of content. The training period is three years.

This year alone, 21 students completed their training in health care and nursing at the hospital as part of the generalist education.

Ten of them were awarded the State Prize by the Government of Lower Franconia for particularly good academic performance.

Career Prospects for Students

Medical students have the opportunity to complete a nursing internship and their clinical elective at St. Josef Hospital.
