Specialized clinic for child and adolescent psychiatry, psychosomatics, and psychotherapy.
At the Clinic Am Greinberg, under the sponsorship of the District of Lower Franconia and in cooperation with the University Hospital Würzburg, 15 therapy places are available for inpatient treatment of children and adolescents with mental illnesses who additionally have severe physical or mental disabilities or suffer from severe visual or hearing impairments.
The treatment includes psychoeducation, psychotherapy, medication therapy, as well as several complementary therapies that promote movement, motor skills, and behavior.
Additional Benefits
In psychoeducation, fundamental knowledge about the diagnosis, therapy options, and prognosis of the illness is conveyed so that those affected and their relatives can better cope with the condition. Behavioral and experience-based training treatments take place within the framework of occupational therapy, parent training, and milieu therapy.
Social and legal counseling by the social services supports the networked cooperation of caregivers with support systems.
All rooms with patient access are handicap-accessible.
Optimal treatment is ensured not least by the close cooperation with all departments of the University Hospital Würzburg, which are consulted in individual cases.
Intensive Care Unit for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy
The Intensive Care Unit is an acute inpatient hospital facility for children and adolescents who are a danger to themselves or others. It is under the sponsorship of the District of Lower Franconia and is operated in cooperation with the University Hospital Würzburg.
The 14 therapy places are supervised by a particularly high staff-to-patient ratio to ensure maximum care for these children and adolescents with the highest therapeutic needs, in close cooperation with families and other responsible caregivers.
The most common reason for admission is immediate suicide risk. Other frequent clinical pictures include severe forms of eating disorders, psychoses, or depressions.
The placement is made at the request of the parents with the approval of a judge. After stabilization in the closed ward, which should be as rapid as possible, therapy is continued, if desired, in an open ward or on an outpatient basis.
