BAURCONSULT in Hassfurt

As an owner-managed architecture and engineering firm with 60 years of experience, we focused on sustainability even before the word existed.

BAURCONSULT unites specialists from all disciplines under one roof. The managing partners Andreas Baur and Peter Kuhn represent the two owner families, carrying the values of founder Günter Baur into the next generations. Being a double family business is something that the 300 employees at eight locations nationwide appreciate. We’re also always on the move: In summer 2021, we moved into our new company headquarters in Haßfurt, where we showcase what we can do. Our new office is largely made of wood and is equipped with state-of-the-art building technology from top to bottom – from ice storage to photovoltaic facade.

We work for cities and municipalities, but also for companies. Our spectrum includes the construction of schools and office buildings, as well as planning the drinking water supply for our population. This allows every BC’er to have a varied job with creative freedom. It’s part of our philosophy to build in a resource-efficient and sustainable way – it’s part of our DNA. After all, our company’s roots lie in water treatment. We still do that, but now we’re also an engineering and architectural firm.

Green building is in good hands with us, as we can create biophilic design while guaranteeing technical feasibility. We have intensively studied alternative materials and timber construction. Thus, we joined the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) early on and with full conviction.

This also includes our preference for long-term work relationships with our employees. We seem to be quite successful at this, as a third of our workforce has been with BAURCONSULT for more than ten years. Some colleagues have even been with us for over 25 years. We can’t explain exactly why this is, but we think it’s great because it keeps knowledge and experience in the company for a long time. This benefits not only our customers but also BC’ers who are new to us. We’re also a little proud of our new company building in Haßfurt, made from local wood and featuring a photovoltaic facade. We can completely do without fossil fuels here.

We consciously promote casual interaction, short communication paths, and door-to-door work across all disciplines. Flexible working and part-time models are also a matter of course for us. And when there are problems, such as with childcare, we sometimes help quite pragmatically – for example, in finding a childminder. Or when one of our apprentices – a Syrian refugee – suddenly has to leave his accommodation: Then the whole office quickly sets out to find an apartment.

Most of the professions represented in our company are not typically female-dominated, yet our gender ratio is almost 50/50. We’re proud of this! We’re also proud that many of our employees appreciate the good atmosphere so much that they’re willing to accept longer commutes. At our locations, we train a wide range of professions from construction draftsmen to office administrators. We enjoy having young talent in-house and focus on a balanced mix of young people and long-term employees who regularly undergo further training. This is how we’re already setting the course for a successful future.
