WVV and Knauf Inspire Students at the 20th Career.Tour Mainfranken

For several years, Region Mainfranken GmbH has been organizing Career.Tours – free, one-day bus trips for students from universities in Mainfranken. The aim is to provide young talents with direct insights into the working world of regional employers. Participants gain practical impressions of corporate processes and culture, and are informed about specific entry and career opportunities. At the same time, companies have the chance to get to know potential young professionals at an early stage.

On Wednesday, May 15, 2025, the 20th Career.Tour took place. Around 50 students set off by bus to visit two renowned employers in the region: Würzburger Versorgungs- und Verkehrs-GmbH (WVV) and the building materials manufacturer Knauf in Iphofen.

First Stop: WVV in WüRzburg

The tour started at WVV, a central infrastructure service provider for the city of Würzburg. After a welcome, the students received informative presentations on fields of activity and development opportunities within the company. Afterward, a tour of the company premises offered exciting insights into WVV’s diverse areas of responsibility – from public transport to energy supply.

Second Stop: Knauf in Iphofen

The bus journey continued to Iphofen to visit Knauf Gips KG, a globally operating manufacturer of building materials and building systems. Here too, the participants were greeted with expert presentations that highlighted both the company strategy and professional prospects at Knauf. The exchange with on-site employees provided personal insights and concrete discussions about career paths.

Exchange and Networking

As with every Career.Tour, personal exchange was the focus. Between and after the scheduled events, students had the opportunity to ask questions and make contacts – a valuable opportunity to connect theory and practice. “It’s very helpful to get to know the company culture directly on site. This way, I can much better imagine where I would like to work in the future”, summarized one participant.
